Evernote written in which language

This is also VERY important in researching ME history and events anyway as the same name, say of a historical figure, can be transliterated 8 different ways in 8 different articles. When I do vocabulary lists like 2 or translations like 1, it could be split into columns. In fact, when I do it on paper, I use reversed legal paper with a very wide margin on the right. With Greek, I use regular legal paper with the wide margin on the left. You could make the same thing easy to do in software and people would have to mix text less often.

Again, less mixed text, less problems. Either solution would have side-benefits for non-bidirectional users. Lots of folks take class notes in columns and that's why they make legal pads with those wide margins in the first place.

Really the only thing left then is 2, free-form mixed-language text suddenly switching directions. If it comes down to that and I have to type it in another app and paste it in, sure, that would still be frustrating, but MUCH less so. As it is, however, since I bang into this problem all the time, I am seriously thinking of giving OneNote a try.

I'd rather leave my data where it is and just have the problem go away. The web beta version of the long-awaited Evernote is not promising when it comes to this feature. RTL option is not available in their new editor! Total disappointment. Seriously thinking of switching to an alternative service.

So silly losing so many potential clients for a technology that is implemented all over the place Google Keep pops to mind. I have the lateset Evernote version for windows I just installed the latest beta version, I was hoping for the RTL support but unfortunately its worse now. Deleting app now. I now have a strong conviction that evernote derives pleasure from ignoring these requests and that the more requests are made for this feature the more they get off on it like sadists.

Imagine all the years that has gone by since the first request! Apart from completely rewriting their software packages for all platforms so that this sort of feature can be added once rather than 5 times in different operating systems?

They rolled out v10 a couple of months ago and are now adding new features every couple of weeks I'd suspect the current Support overload is pretty much the same. We're still waiting your update to bring this essential feature RTL. The question is whether they plan to settle this matter in the future or just not to expect it to happen. I recently started using the app and will probably stop if I know it is not planned tobe fix at all.

It seems that over 3 years have passed since Evernote expressed the desire to "quantify, qualify and amplify" the collective requests for RTL support in the app.

Since then, the meager support that did exist for RTL the "paragraph direction" feature has been removed in the Jan. Since then, Evernote has become unworkable for Arabic and Hebrew writers, among other languages.

For me, it made my Evernote notes captive, since I cannot migrate them to another program, such as OneNote. I am still looking for a solution, while copying and recreating note for note in other apps Word and OneNote, Scrivener, etc. It is disheartening, insulting and despairing, that Evernote keeps silent on this matter, while on the other hand claiming to want to quantify and qualify the need for RTL solution. This should not be an issue.

Operating systems support multiple languages. Bidirectional text is supported across manny systems. Evernote has put this need at the bottom of its priority list from the start. The fact that this is a request sent as early as , demonstrates how little Evernote executives think of their users, who happen to write from right to left. Ironically, this disrespect is the one thing uniting Arab, Jewish Israeli and Iranian users of Evernote.

For me, I am tired of looking for RTL support with each update and to look for workarounds. When I complete transferring my last note to other platforms, I will uninstall Evernote from my devices. I am able to use Evernote with Persian. But when my texts have some Unicode Control Characters, theses characters are lost at save. I'm also considering should I continue with this app - after using it for a long time.

I am getting ready for Evrenote Devcup by addressing this issue. I have developed an application called NimbleBox. NimbleBox is an easiest and quickest way of taking notes in the window with special support for Right-to-left languages! Lack of L2R is really preventing myself and countless others from fully integrating this amazing tool.

I'll have to explore using OneNote to create my notes in the meanwhile.. It v5 does not.. I cant find the setting in onenote on android which has rtl support. I write notes predominantly on my tablets.

Usually I'm writing in Hebrew. I had an option to set the paragraph direction to RTL sadly, no such default option , and that would have set the note format to be kind of RTL note kind-of because not all things worked correctly and some worked partially.

Now, with the new version, it still aligns the text to the right, but the "numbering" and "bulleting" does not work well. And there's this new option or I just haven't saw it which makes the note "plain text"..

Sorry this topic seemed to get forgotten in the general traffic on the forums. As to the OP's question on 'what does plain text do? Content gets converted to plain text - no bold, italic or large text. Try it out on some test text to see the full effect. As to the buggy RTL situation, check that you're up to date with the latest version of Evernote downloaded from Evernote. You won't get any follow-up, but it does mean that the devs will take a look at your situation and hopefully fix it in a future release Evernote program is very good and has many features.

Please add 'rtl direction' item to toolbox. RTL support is sadly lacking for the moment - it may be on a back burner somewhere, but Evernote don't usually share their work in progress or likely release dates I also read your elaborated answers on this issue to others I started using Evernote a few months ago for dissertation research that involves using Arabic.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Arabic is supported, even on Mac, in terms of correctly displaying and connecting the letters. I have also been able to change the paragraph direction RTL by right clicking and selecting for it.

It would be brilliant and other software does this that selecting for a new language automatically puts it into the correct paragraph direction. I hope that's a feature that will come out soon? It will make for a much smoother user experience! I am using the desktop application premium account on a mac.

When working within a note, I right-click, select "Paragraph direction," and then select "right to left. I also just tried it on the web-based version. There, when you right-click, you can select "writing direction"and then "right to left. Well, must be a trait of Mac then. I don't have "Paragraph direction" on the menu, only paragraph alignment Muhammad Darwish - are you using a PC or a Mac?

Still no real rtl support yet on those devices. This is really frustrating for me as paying customer, 'coz I need that. Hello aptowizard and meirjean ,. Thank you for posting. To make sure we are all on the same page, this started after a recent update to Evernote on Android, correct? Or did this start after an update to another Evernote application on a different device? Thank you Matt W. This indeed started after the update to the Android app - I believe it has to do with your new editor, right after you guys posted that there's a new editor the issue started.

Hello meirjean ,. I definitely understand where you are coming from on this. We are currently looking into this and working on a solution. Something went wrong.

No more RTL support. I use to write a lot in Hebrew but now it's impossible! Please fix this it can be done. Thanks again Matt W. Don't know if this helps but here's more info:. I've got the same problem just about 4 days ago. Moreover, my previous notes that were right-to-left are now left-to-right?!!

Hey Matt W. It is currently "in-progress", which means we are working on it. I will keep you all posted as soon as I am briefed on it. This issue was reported, possibly already in connection with an earlier update. Evernote says they are aware of it. Hello Mohammed Hassan ,. Thank you for posting and welcome to the forums. Remember that you key is not active on the 'live' Evernote service evernote. Once your project is ready for public use, you'll need to have your key activated for production use.

How else could they be meant for the Internet? Last edited on Apr 8, at pm UTC. They have everything to do with network protocols. Apr 9, at am UTC. Apr 9, at pm UTC. People have written bindings in many languages though. Something like Python would be much easier.

Nothing wrong with MySQL. I did that but still didn't work though, maybe it takes a little time to update. I hope this helps. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community. It's easy! Already have an account?
